ABSTRACT

Gender places individuals in certain positions in binary categories as men and women, and limits them accordingly. The individual who is surrounded by the pattern of gender can not behave differently out of this position and finds one self at the target of the sexist attitude. Nietzsche’s superhuman doctrine tells us that human beings should isolate themselves from the bonds of various positions, such as gender imposed by society upon human beings, and go beyond them. This study has examined Nietzsche’s superhuman doctrine in the model of Automata film and in the context of gender. The scope of this study is to analyse the film of Automata together with Nietzsche’s superhuman doctrine and to analyse the transition of the superhuman to a society beyond gender via various metaphors in the film. Nietzsche’s theory of reaching the level of superhuman by self-transcendence of human being has been considered together with self-altered machines in the film to get rid of the service to people and to establish a new order of their own. The adaptation of Nietzsche’s superhuman doctrine to this film is because the message carried by the film coincides with the superhuman doctrine. It is the message that modern human beings go beyond the boundaries of societies by having a genderless and totally different identity and overcoming all values. This is identified with Nietzsche’s superhuman doctrine in which he defines the human beings’ purification of social values and returning the essence. Descriptive analysis has been used to analyse the film in the context of the Nietzsche’s philosophy. The characters and metaphors in the film were analysed in accordance with the Nietzsche’s philosophy and a descriptive study has been conducted. The aim of the study is to show that the person who survived the gender borders can reach the level of the Nietzsche’s superhuman level and can be individually and socially freed such as in Automata. The general framework of the study is that automata are produced according to the female and male sex characteristics but they desire to create a society far from human beings and humanity and to be free. In this context, the automata in the film are thought to be like modern people today.Automata which are considered to be the superhumans to be achieved, are far from the gender context, literally demoralized by destruction of gender boundaries, feeling free and acquiring an intrinsic entity.

Toplumsal cinsiyet, bireyleri kadın ve erkek olarak ikili kategoriler içinde belirli konumlara yerleştirir ve onları bu şekilde sınırlandırır. Toplumsal cinsiyet örüntüsüyle sarmalanan birey, bu konumdan farklı davranamaz ve kendini sürekli cinsiyetçi tavrın hedefinde bulur. Nietzsche’nin üstinsan öğretisi toplumun insana dayattığı cinsiyet gibi çeşitli olguların bağlarından insanların kendilerini soyutlamasını ve bunları aşmalarını anlatır. Bu çalışma Nietzsche’nin üstinsan öğretisini Automata filmi örnekleminde ve toplumsal cinsiyet bağlamında incelemiştir. Automata filmini üstinsan öğretisi ile beraber çözümlemek ve üstinsanın toplumsal cinsiyetin ötesinde bir topluma geçişini filmdeki çeşitli metaforlarla çözümlemek bu çalışmanın kapsamını oluşturur. Filmdeki otomatların kendilerini başkalaştırarak insanların hizmetinden çıkmaları ve kendilerine ait yeni bir düzen kurma çabaları ile Nietzsche’nin insanın kendini aşarak üstinsan mertebesine ulaşma teorisi birlikte düşünülmüştür. Nietzsche’nin üstinsan öğretisinin bu filme uyarlanmasının sebebi filmin taşıdığı mesajın üstinsan öğretisiyle uyuşmasıdır. Bu mesaj, modern insanın içinde bulunduğu sınırlardan cinsiyetsiz, bambaşka bir kimlikle çıkıp tüm değerleri alt üst ederek toplumsal cinsiyet sınırlarının ötesine geçmesidir. Bu Nietzsche’nin üstinsan olarak tanımladığı insanın kendini toplumun değerlerinden arındırarak kendi özüne dönmesiyle özdeşleştirilmiştir. Filmin Nietzsche felsefesi ile çözümlenmesinde betimsel çözümleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Filmdeki karakterler ve metaforlar Nietzsche felsefiyle uyumlu bir şekilde çözümlenerek betimsel bir çalışma yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı Automata filmi örnekleminde cinsiyetçi sınırlardan kurtulan insanın filmdeki otomatlar gibi Nietzsche’nin üstinsan mertebesine ulaşabileceğini, kendi içinde ve toplumda özgürleşebileceğini ortaya koymaktır. Otomatların da dişilik ve erkeksilik cinsiyet özelliklerine göre üretildiği fakat onların insanlardan ve insani özelliklerden ırak bir düzen oluşturma ve bağımsızlaşma istekleri çalışmanın genel çerçevesini oluşturmaktadır. Bu çerçevede filmdeki otomatlar günümüzün modern insanına benzetilmiştir. Gerçekleştirilen üstinsan olarak kabul edilen otomatlar, toplumsal cinsiyet sınırlarından kurtularak, kendini özgür hissederek ve gerçek bir varlık özü edinerek kelimenin tam anlamıyla demoralize edilmiş toplumsal cinsiyet bağlamından uzaktır.
